Developing the Future

Starr-Camargo International Bridge & Road Expansion Plan

Developing the Future begins with a realignment of Texas Highway 755 — one of the only direct routes that connects much of the county to the North-South and East-West highway corridors. In 2016 a newly realigned Texas Highway 755 would bypass the historic downtown of Rio Grande City. The goal would be to expedite commercial traffic between the Rio Grande City-Camargo International Bridge and McAllen-Brownsville to the East and major urban areas to the North. Finally, when TX Loop 195 is completed, it will provide more efficient highway connectivity with Laredo to the West and prevent damage by heavy truck traffic to the historic buildings in Rio Grande City, Escobares and Roma.
